Belfast´s Great Escape!
Belfast Building Control Service has said goodbye to six long-serving members of staff at a reception in the City Hall on Monday 29 March 2010.
Frank McLean, Assistant Building Control Manager, Tommy Pollock , Alan Patterson, Jack Roberts and Robert Neill, all Senior Building Control Surveyors and John Cassidy, Business Support Manager all took up the opportunity of voluntary redundancies. Together they have worked for the council for approximately 200 years!
Tommy Pollock and Frank McLean both joined Building Control in 1973 and so have seen all the changes in the Building Regulations from their introduction. Alan Patterson worked in the Commercial Team dealing with most of the larger buildings in Belfast, Robert Neill worked in Licensing, and Jack Roberts after many years inspecting in North Belfast had spent the last few years in the Business Development Team.
At the reception, joined by families and past and present colleagues, there were speeches by Willie Francie, Director of the Health & Environmental Services Department, Trevor Martin, Head of Service, and by each of the six leaving. They were presented with service medals from the council and with gifts from their colleagues. Everyone enjoyed refreshments including a large celebration cake featuring Steven McQueen and ‘The Great Escape’ We wish them all well for their futures.
