From 1 April 2015 there will be 11 local councils in Northern Ireland rather the current 26 – cluster groups of existing councils are joining together under new names and Belfast City Council is getting a bit bigger by taking in parts of the existing Lisburn, Castlereagh and North Down councils.
This means there will be 11 Building Control Offices instead of 26. However, the work of building control, enforcing the building regulations by assessing plans and carrying out inspections of construction works in progress, will continue to be carried out in the same way and by the same professional, customer-focused staff.Read full story
In response to a request made under the Environmental Information Regulations 2004, the Department of Finance and Personnel (DFP) will be releasing approximately 19,000 records comprised of data from Display Energy Certificates and non-domestic Energy Performance Certificates belonging to non-domestic buildings in Northern Ireland.
In the spirit of processing data fairly, the Department is giving holders of non-domestic Energy Performance Certificates the opportunity to decide whether to opt out before the records are due to be released around February/March 2015.
